Henry Cook died at his late residence in the town of Constantine, Michigan, on the 5th. of December, 1882, after a long and severe illness, being a few days over 68 years old. He was born in Washington County, Pa., November 26th., 1814, his parents moving from there to Richland County in 1815, where he grew up as a farmer among the wilds of a new country. He was a man possessed of an iron constitution and toiled and struggled hard with the ups and downs of life, a friend to all, not having one enemy, but a good wish and will for everyone, a man full of hope and bright anticipations of the future; a sacrifice to his financial troubles, which pressed upon him with such force as to crush his iron constitution from which it was impossible to recover. It really looks like a hard fate to see such faithful old pioneers die out without even a trail being left to mark their years of toil except that the native forests have melted away before their untiring efforts to make their homes bright and happy.
Brother Henry, May mercy and peace rest upon you and be with you and abide with you forever.
